Metro Phase II: MGBS-Falaknuma Metro

You may call him, CM-in-hurry. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is moving quickly keeping an eye on development while getting name as ‘positive-thinking Chief Minister’.

Within two weeks of his assuming CM’s office, Mr Reddy dwelling upon various pending-development issues, apart from six election promises his party made during state elections.

In a swift move, Mr Reddy decided to stalled Metro-Express extending to Hyderabad International Airport from Hightec City covering about 31 KMs costing to Rs 6,250 crore. Instead, the Chief Minister want the linkage to Airport must be through Old-city which is just about 5.5 kms distance from Falaknuma to Shamshabad.

This Phase I, connects the busy Secunderabad at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) to Shamshabad (Airport). In fact, the project was stalled by AIMIM (Majlis Party) claiming that the route will affect heritage buildings and religious structures, thus pushing the first phase into limbo. Earlier BRS government initiated re-survey done. The revised route is expected cost Rs 5,500 crore, and the government yet to identify the source of funding the project.
