It is difficult for communists’ to accept defeat, although, their vote share in Kerala fell by 1.75 percentage points, while it could win only one MP seat out of 20.

In its review meeting conducted for three days in Delhi, CPI (M) in its central committee meeting thoroughly analyzed its pitfalls and future strategies. More disturbing for the party seniors is the BJP opened its account by wining one seat.

The meeting observed that there is evidence of wearing down in most of their traditional base in most of the constituencies, where BJP started scoring.

They felt the reason for losing their traditional bases would be growing corruption in village administration, failure of cooperative institutions etc. They also observed that arrogant attitude of their cadre alienated common man from the party.

The party central committee found similar conditions in the Tamilnadu, where CPM won 2 seats and CPI got 2 seats as part of INDI-A.

Further, the committee also felt that it could not get the desired results in West Bengal due to weak organizational structure in the state. They could not have polling agents in about 12 to 15 per cent booths in the state, also the party is not in existence in many places for long.

The highest body claims its efforts in grouping all the secular forces against RSS/BJP and provided enough support to INDI-A block across the country.

CPI (M) contested 52 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls compared to 71 in 2019, however, its national vote share reduced considerably this time.
