The Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi is solo campaigner for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in this poll. He is almost running and hopping from one city to another, from one state and another and from one campaign to another. Although, Amit Shah is also traveling equally but Modi’s campaigns are being taken very seriously by the electorate than any other campaigner.
The Chief campaigner for the party, Modi, picked up a very pertinent issue, distribution of wealth by stealing from haves including industry and big employees. It is a major diversion raised by the Congress party in its manifesto, which common hard-worker and his kith and kin will not accept.
It is proposed by the Sam Pitroda that the Congress, if voted to power, would bring serious changes in the inheritance laws giving more powers to the government to obtain 55% share in the property owned by a person, after his demise. Thus, the net result would be the legal hairs of that departed persons would get only 45% of the total estate left by their parent. The property taken away would be proposed to be distributed (the process is to be still to be decided) among the have-nots including Muslims, SCs, STs etc.
But for the announcement made by Sam Pitroda, very few would have understood the impact of this measure. Modi has taken that as his lead observation in his campaign and started blasting in all possible ways. Unfortunately congress cannot or unable to counter this, hence it plans to distance itself from Sam Pitroda, who is mentor of Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister candidate, unopposed in his party.
We can see, the Modi’s campaign in 2024 polls is more aggressive and even not seeking votes but focused in explaining forcefully the concept and its impact of the wealth distribution on economy. In fact, it is an economic disaster elsewhere.
Though-late-but-not-quite, the congress party has come up with some counter in the way of Sachin Pilot, its general secretary, terming Modi’s campaign as negative and fearmongering.
Pilot claims that the distribution of wealth is a noble measure for equitable growth. Interestingly, he points out that India belongs to everyone, and wealth should be distributed equally.
In all, it is the responsibility of congress party and also duty bound that it needs to explain elaborately how they are intending to distribute the properties obtained from the (rich) individuals.
