Election exercise for electing 543 members of 18th Lok Sabha started with the Election commission’s announcement with 7-phased poll schedule. The dates of polling include: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June1.
Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
This Election-2024 is largely tilted towards National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the principle opposition led by INDIA bloc is still struggling to keep single-opposition fight.
There are about 96.8 crore registered voters, men account for 49.72 crore and women 47.1 crore.
It is interesting that super-senior citizen are accounting for a considerable number in this elections. According to Commission reports, there are 85 lakh registered voters who are aged 85 years. Similarly, the voters with disability are 88.4 lakhs.
