2024: Phase – I Polls

As many as 102 seats covering 21 states and UTs are went to polls in the first phase on 19.04.2024.

TN 39, Raj 12, UP 8, MP 6, Uttar 5, Mah 5, Assam 5, Bihar 4, WB 3, Meghalaya 2, Aruna 2, Manipur 2. One seat each in Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Punducherry, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Kashmir and Lakshadweep.

These elections will speak about two vital things that is, how far Hindutva influence over electorate, the second will be, Is Modi’s appeal has worked in favour of BJP.

For BJP, it is first elections where in the party is contenting to win with various diverse issues like ethnic issues in Manipur, farmer issues in Rajasthan, UP and Vidarbha, issue of CAA in Assam and Dravidian issues in  Tamil Nadu.

Coming to South, Tamil Nadu is going to polls in the first phase for all seats. Modi made several visits to the state recently and had person to person contact with the electorate there through road-shows. The party’s State President K Annamalai penetrated into rural Tamil Nadu and he is contesting from Coimbatore. The party is contesting there without alliance with AIADMK.

Similarly Rajasthan is also going to all 25 seats in the Phase I, and BJP won all 25 seats in the state in 2019 polls. While in UP about 8 seats are going to polls in the phase I.

Further, Uttarakhand will be a real battle ground for the BJP, as most of pro-Hindutva policies are being implemented in the state. The party won 2022 assembly polls in the state. Maharashtra about 5 out of 48 seats are going to polls this time and Bihar 4 out of 40 seats going to polls in the phase I.
