11th Century sculptures found in debris

According to the newspaper reports, about three 11th century Jain sculptures were found in Mysure district while digging for drainage work.

                        Three sculptures were found in a heap of debris at Varuna village in Mysure district, the report said.

                        The sculptures were shifted to the archaeology museum on the premises of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalay (IGRMS). The information was received by a local persons and the team from ASI at IGRMS reached the spot and retrieved the sculptures. There may be possibility for further research in the region which is considered thriving Jain centres.
